Shimla, July 5: The Congress is planning to take out ‘path yatras’ (roadshows) to counter the BJP’s ‘Parivartan Rath Yatra’ (chariot march) in Himachal Pradesh. During the yatras, which are likely to be attended by party vice president Rahul Gandhi and othes senior leaders, Congress workers would cover every booth, village, block and district of the state on foot, Himachal Congress chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu told reporters after a party meeting here on Wednesday.
He said 7,000 young people would be associated with the yatras, which would be undertaken in three phases. The first phase will be from July 18-24, the second one from August 1-7 and the third and final phase from August 15-21, he added.
Through these yatras, the party aims at highlighting the achievements of the incumbent government in the state and failures of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was not present at the meeting, which was attended by state ministers Vidya Stokes, Sujan Singh Pathania and Dhani Ram Shandil.
Earlier, state Youth Congress chief Vikramaditya Singh had announced a ‘Vikas Prachar Yatra’ (development message) to counter the BJP’s chariot march.
