Phantom Poor Show Makes Rs 33-Cr In First Week

Filmmaker Kabir Khan’s espionage drama Phantom opened to a lukewarm response. It made only Rs 8.46 crore on the opening day But managed to rake in about Rs 33 crore by the weekend.

Phantom, based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.

The film witnessed a good growth on Saturday and Sunday by collecting Rs 12.78 crore and Rs 11.94 crore, respectively, thus taking its cumulative total to Rs 33.18 crore.

Phantom continues to perform at the overseas box office as well with an approximate collection of Rs 6.62 crore in just two days.

With no big release along with it, Phantom is expected to have a good week ahead.

Phantom, which centres on global terrorism, is an adaptation of the novel Mumbai Avengers. The film was banned in Pakistan following a petition by Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the mastermind behind the Mumbai mayhem.
