Melange of dances charms audience

Kullu, Oct 4: Punjabi singer Ranjeet Baba enthralled the audience on the third cultural evening during the week-long International Kullu Dasehra festival here yesterday.The programme began with the shehnai composition by Surajmani.

Artistes from Kullu presented “Natti” which was applauded by audience. Various artistes and musical groups from all over the state entertained visitors.The troupes from Jharkhand and Rajasthan presented a glimpse of their cultures through dances. The audience was spellbound by the presentations of artistes from Nepal.

Performance by dance master Yashwant was lauded by all and he also performed with the special children. A fashion show was also held which exhibited a blend of traditional costumes with modernity.The traditional ‘Jhamakada’ dance was performed by artistes from Hamirpur and ‘Thod’ dance appeasing Lord Shiva was presented by a troupe from Mandi.

Artistes from Rajasthan performed a peacock dance and played ‘Holi’ with flowers. Artistes from Jharkhand depicted ‘Mahishasur Vadh’ through a dance performance during Durga Puja.Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur was the chief guest. He congratulated the masses to uphold their traditions and culture. Chairman of the Kullu Dasehra Festival Committee and Kullu DC Yunus Khan welcomed the chief guest and presented him with a traditional Kullu cap, shawl and Dasehra souvenir.
