Himachal Youth Congress to hold Vikas Yatra next month

Shimla, June 28: Youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday blamed the presence of more than one Congress backed candidate in the poll arena as the main reason for the defeat of the party in the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Vikramaditya, son of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, advocated a single line administration to ensure that the party returns to power in the December 2017 Assembly elections. “Had it not been for division of the Congress votes among its own men, Congress would have captured the Shimla MC,” he remarked.

Vikramaditya also said that had it not been for the aggressive campaigning by the Chief Minister, the Congress would not have these many (12) wards. “One thing has been proved beyond doubt in the Shimla MC polls that there is no Modi wave in Himachal. Had there been a so-called Modi wave in the state the Congress supported candidates would not have won a single seat,” he said.

He also announced the plans of Himachal Youth Congress to counter BJP’s Parivartan Rath Yatra by taking out its own Vikas Prachaar Yatra. “We will focus on 45 Assembly segments and launch the yatra to publicise the achievements of the Virbhadra regime during its four-and-a-half-year rule and counter the false propaganda of BJP and its leaders,” he said. The yatra would begin anytime after July 15, he added.

He said during its four and a half year rule, the Congress regime had formulated schemes for the welfare of every section of society right from youth, women, elderly, employees, farmers and the unemployed. “The Youth Congress will hold a two-day convention for all Panchayati Raj representatives with Congress background at Mandi on July 8 and 9,” he revealed.
