Disband truck unions: Industries association

Shimla, June 26: The Haroli Block Industries Association has demanded that truck unions should be disbanded and industrialists should not be forced to transport their goods through the truck unions. In a press note by association chairman Rakesh Kaushal, he charged that the truck unions had been harassing industrialists by overcharging for freight carriage.

Kaushal claimed that even for export goods, which required shipment containers, the truck unions forced the industrialists to transport goods in the manner and mode of their own choice since they do not have the vehicles to suit the nature of goods to be transported.

The industrialists association opined that if immediate steps were not initiated to disband the tuck unions, new industries would not be forthcoming. Moreover, exodus of existing units to Punjab will also begin since industrial owners were fed up with the dictates of the truck unions.
