Patel’s victory will impact upcoming elections in Himachal: Virbhadra

Shimla, Aug 9: Congress is in power in Himachal Pradesh and assembly elections are due within months in state. Chief minister Virbhadra Singh said that the victory of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s political Secretary Ahmed Patel in Gujarat will surely have impact in upcoming elections in state also.

Virbhadra said that BJP as a party and a government did their best to defeat Patel but by the grace of god and efforts of party leadership he has come out with flying colors. “His victory will prove a turning point of political fortune in Gujarat as well as in Himachal also” he said.

The victory in this bitterly fought battle has strengthened the Congress party, he said. “Despite the massive use of power for creating an atmosphere Patel. They (BJP) have not succeeded in their efforts” said Singh adding that this is victory of democratic forces in country.

Congress has come on a back foot over the incidents of crime in Himachal Pradesh which included ill famous Kotkhai incident of murder and rape, forest guard murder in Mandi, rape of minor by teacher in Chamba and a fresh case of murder in Solan.

Reacting over the same he said that crime happens in every country and state. But it is the duty of the local government to get the accused which is being done by the authorities, he said. “CBI has asked 15 days more to present their report in Kotkhai incident. But political parties in garb of this unfortunate incident have blow it out of proportions for political mileage” said chief minister.
