Himachal Pradesh CM visits Kotrupi, relief announced

Shimla, Aug 14: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh visited Kotrupi village in Mandi district where a massive landslide buried two buses early Sunday night. He directed intensification of the rescue and relief measures on a war-footing.

The Chief Minister said the rescue operation would continue till all the bodies were recovered. The teams of NDRF, Army, police and Home Guards have been deployed in the operation. The Chief Minister distributed immediate relief to the next of kin of the deceased and injured. He said the government would bear expenses of the treatment of the injured passengers.

He directed that the loss to property should be assessed at the earliest so that those affected could be provided compensation. He also met the bereaved family members and offered his condolences. He prayed for the safety of the missing passengers and speedy recovery of those injured.

Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Transport Minister GS Bali and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anil Sharma were also on there to monitor the rescue and relief operation.The Health Minister announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased while the Transport Minister announced that Rs 1 lakh would be given as relief by the HRTC. The Mandi DC said search operation was under way.
