What Not To Miss In Sikkim, A Treasure Trove For Travelers!

Humour

If you thought Sikkim was only about getting a glimpse of the mighty Kanchenjunga, then you are highly mistaken. This beautiful hilly state offers you lakes, monasteries and vibrancy in every colour.

If you want a break from your wife, kid, in-laws, dog, boss and watchman head here.

1. Gangtok

Start from the capital and the warmth of the locals will truly make you feel special. You can do lots of shopping here, as the city gets a lot of stuff from the Chinese side.

2. Gurudongmar Lake

It is one of the highest lakes on this planet. The lake is considered very sacred both by Hindus and Buddhists. You actually need permission to take water from it.

3. Rumtek Monastery

This Gompa is a fine example of human faith and architecture. It is a major shrine for Tibetan Buddhists. The post cards do not do any justice to it. You have to see it in real.

4. Yumthang Valley

It is often called the valley of flowers. It is an absolute delight for nature lovers. It is home to the Shingba Rhodedendron Sanctuary, which protects 24 species of this plant. You can also undertake camping and skiing here.

6. Nathula Pass

A trip to Sikkim is incomplete without visiting Nathu La pass. Remember to stop at the Tsomgo lake when you pass though the pass. It is also the route for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. The height, the fresh air, the Chinese soldiers on the other side, a sight to be seen.

7. Rimbi Waterfalls

The falls are very famous for fishing. You can spend quality time here. The best time to visit would be in the summer months.
