The Smart City And The Dumbed Earth

It is a strong statement to dumb down the earth!

In most probability, that shall not happen because nature will eventually be the winner in the end. If my thought is moving in convoluted circles, which seem intelligent gibberish gone wrong…forgive me.

Why did I start thinking like this?

Well, it took a trip to a modern wholesale facility (the ones that’s ell everything from a washing machine to big pack of chips under one roof ) in the Delhi capital to completely gridlock my thoughts over the last few days.

While in the United States last May on a pleasure visit, apart from the tourist pleasure, a thought that kept recurring was the wasteful society that it is. I saw loads and loads of fascinating stuff on the shelf but what kept worrying me were the ones that were perishable or bore an expiry date. I kept reminiscing how in my middle-class Indian existence, the grocer was almost the extended family and there are so many takers for any one thing that can possibly go waste. Some possible goods are my kids clothes which easily pass on to my driver’s kids, my extra butter chicken goes to the maid.

The departmental store culture I am sure:

1. Creates unnecessary need

2. Has a compelling sense of packaging

3. Has an inbuilt wastage since many things will go out of date at the same time…I wonder where those go!

Department

In India , add to that the balance of population or what is called DENSITY OF POPULATION and the nuances become more skewed.

SO much packaging will go in the waste bin!

What was earlier bought in a ‘Jhola’ is now incomplete with the finishing. I am getting overburdened with the smartness I see around. And then there is the mention of the SMART CITY and then there is the other business of Wi-Fi everywhere. My first cinematic mind takes me to some sci-fi flick with an imagination of the future….machines overruling human species.

I was just surfing on what all can come along from this Wi-Fi laden atmosphere around me and these are some of the takeaways:

Affects Cell Growth

When a group of Danish ninth graders experienced difficulty concentrating after sleeping with their cell phones by their head, they performed an experiment to test the effect of wireless Wi-Fi routers on garden cress. One set of plants was grown in a room free of wireless radiation; the other group grew next to two routers that released the same amount of radiation as a cell phone. The results? The plants nearest the radiation didn’t grow. Now we’re just waiting for someone to test to see how human cells react to the radiation, there are different shaking incubators used to study cell growth, making use of this equipment on human cells while testing this radiation theory could reveal the truth. This can be quite disturbing for those of us that have wireless Wi-Fi routers in our home, as well as phones (which the majority will most definitely own). This is why investing in a device like the AM-10 is useful, as it measures the amount of radiation in your home.

Derails Brain Function

Just as the Danish high schoolers noticed problems with concentration, scientists have begun to look at the impact of 4G radiation on brain function. Using MRI technology, research performed just last year found that persons exposed to 4G radiation had several areas of reduced brain activity. The same goes for 5G too. Many people have been questioning whether phones are 5G safe and this is a serious concern for scientists. Cellphones are used every day and if they’re damaging our health it’s important that users know about this.

Reduces Brain Activity in Females

A group of 30 healthy volunteers, 15 men and 15 women, were given a simple memory test. First, the entire group was tested without any exposure to Wi-Fi radiation – no problem. Then, they were exposed to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi from a wireless access point for about 45 minutes. During that portion of the testing, brain activity was measured and the women had a noticeable change in brain activity and energy levels. Sorry ladies! But guys, don’t get too comfortable…

There are many more that I am not listing so that the reader doesn’t get stressed by shock. It is amazing how human kind has forgotten the essence of basic living. My mornings are becoming more complicated every year. (Traffic! …a development called the car) My hazards are also increasing. (health issues)

I may also be exposing myself to too many strange experiences (SMS stress, work stress, growth stress, money stress). I don’t feel safe (everything from the newspaper to the next Delhi incident to some incident in UK affects me). Possibly, what most that the human needs is air, water and food. All of that has been turned to complex processes (please remember Delhi now will have air purifiers in homes!)

In all this, you bet my mind is running a bit slow. Oh My Gosh…..maybe it is my Wi-Fi modem! You bet !!!
