Narayanaswami Srinivasan (born 3 January 1945) is an Indian industrialist. He is the son of T. S. Narayanaswami, one of the first employees of India Cements. He holds a BSc (Tech) from Loyola College, Chennai and Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA

He served as president of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1996 to 1998 and is also a member of the Executive Committee of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

4. Khurki for making cricket/sports a religion!

Former BCCI President A. C. Muthiah introduced him to cricket administration . He was the Secretary of the BCCI before becoming the President, taking over the reins from Shashank Manohar, in 2011.

5. It’s not just cricket that runs in his veins

Narayanaswami Srinivasan  is also president of the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation and All India Chess Federation.

Srinivasan’s younger brother, N. Ramachandran, is also involved in sports administration. He heads the Tamil Nadu Squash Rackets Association, and is president of the Indian Olympic Association and World Squash Federation.

7. Khurki behind being a perfectionist, the superstitious way

Srinivasan is known to be superstitious. It is believed that he restored a Ganesh temple outside the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai because he felt it watched over the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), of which he is the president.

8. Khurki to the extent of being destructive?

Australian newspaper Daily Telegraph described him as “cricket’s most destructive figure”.

9. Khurki for good writers

Srinivasan disclosed that he is an admirer of Jawarharlal Nehru, India’s charismatic first Prime Minister, and the Nobel Prize-winning multi-faceted writer-cum-diplomat Henry Kissinger – and likes their works.

10. A complete movie buff

Srinivasan also revealed that he has, at his Chennai home, a large collection of old movies that he watches when he unwinds after a hectic day.

Srinivasan’s other hobby is, of course, a little better known – golf. He still squeezes out time to compete in corporate tournaments in Kodaikanal, his favourite golf course.

12. Traders vs Brahmin clash

The son-in-law Gurunath Meriyappan, who is in the eye of the storm at the moment, was not someone he wanted to become a part of his family because he was not of the same caste. Gurunath belongs to the Chettiyar (trading) community and Srinivasan is a Brahmin, which created a lot of tension in the family. His estranged son Ashwin has even stated that his father used to abuse the Meriyappan family every night after having a few drinks of Scotch.
