Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited period drama ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ finally released in theatres today. But, in quite a saddening news, Kuwait and Oman have banned the movie while Qatar has put it in hold.

In the movie, Akshay plays the role of famed ruler Prithviraj Chauhan, who was known for his valour & leadership. The movie in all its grandeur has been made in over four years after having suffered a time loss during Covid.

Akshay Kumar recently recounted the experience of hosting a special screening of his upcoming film Samrat Prithviraj for home minister Amit Shah and described it as a ‘rare honour.’

Akshay plays king Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty in the film, which will revolve around The First Battle of Tarain between the 12th-century ruler and Muhammad Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty.

Amit Shah was all praises after he watched it in New Delhi on Wednesday, June 1, with his family members and Akshay by his side. Akshay later shared a picture of him and Amit Shah on his Instagram account and said it was emotional for him to see the minister praising the period drama.

A look at the trailer on this occasion, as movie will have to be watched at theatres near you.

Miss World Manushi Chillar debut

Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the film also marks the Bollywood debut of former Miss World Manushi Chillar, who stars opposite Akshay as Sanyogita. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Manav Vij, Sonu Sood, and Ashutosh Rana in important roles.

Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, referred to Samrat Prithviraj as a synergy of “history, patriotism, the portrayal of the values that we should live by, and also tells a story of love that is rare to find”.

The actor said he was awed by Prithviraj Chauhan’s story. “The more I read about him, the more I was awed by how he lived and breathed every single second of his glorious life for his country and his values,” he said.
