Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who was convicted on May 6 following the court proceedings in the 2002 hit-and-run case and who subsequently acquired bail and a suspended sentence, has sought Bombay High Court’s permission to travel to Dubai for the AIBA award ceremony.

Salman’s application was filed today, saying he wants to travel to Dubai for a show on May 29. A vacation bench of the High Court is likely to hear the application next week.

The Arab Indo Bollywood Awards (AIBA) ceremony will take place on May 29 after being postponed last month. The much-anticipated award night will also see stars like Jacqueline Fernandez, Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra and Varun Dhawan take the stage.

Salman Khan was first  found guilty of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and later sentenced to 5 years in prison. But following a plea by the actor, he was later granted bail and a suspended sentence which also allowed him to travel abroad with prior permission.

And what is also learnt is that dance maestro Shiamak Davar will choreograph all the dance performances of the AIBA ceremony.

Shiamak Davar, a pioneer of jazz and contemorary dance in India, also known as the “Guru of Contemporary Dance” is largely responsible for modernizing India’s dance scene especially in the film and theatre industry. The National Award winning choreographer has led the world into embracing a dance movement that is beyond the ordinary, enthralling people in what can aptly be called the Shiamak Movement. Shiamak’s ability to bring grandeur to each piece incorporating sets, properties, costume and lights makes his choreography world class.
The entertainment icon who is looking forward to visiting Dubai said fans can expect an electric mix of Bollywood, Arabian and Western dance moves.
