The Mohalla Assi trailer was released last month and it hit controversial headlines immediately.

And even though its producers claimed that the trailer was not official, a stay was imposed on the release of the movie. The bad news for producers continues.

The nationwide stay on Mohalla Assi, starring Sunny Deol, Ravi Kishan and Sakshi Tanwar, has now been extended till August 25.

In one particular scene, a man dressed as Lord Shiva was shown using abusive language. After watching the movie trailer, the court examined that the movie was based on the Assi Ghat in Varanasi and the characters had used using foul language that could hurt religious sentiments.

Civil Judge Kishore Kumar extended the stay on the film’s release and sought response from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on a petition filed by Delhi resident Gulshan Kumar.

“Therefore, at this stage, a prima facie case is made out that until the religiously hurting scenes and dialogues/words wherein the abusive and filthy language has been used are removed, the movie should not be released,” the court has observed.
