Kotkhai case: High Court seeks probe details from cops

Shimla, August 19: The high court on Friday directed police officials, who conducted investigation into the Kotkhai rape and murder case, to file their personal affidavit, informing about the investigation conducted by them before the CBI took over the case.

All the members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and police personnel posted in the Kotkhai Police Station were present in the court during the course of hearing. Director General of Police (DGP) Somesh Goyal was, however, not present as he was reported to be out of station.

The Division Bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma directed all the police officials to file their individual affidavits on or before August 24. They have been asked to file personal affidavit detailing the investigation done by them in the rape and murder of the 16-year-old girl between the time when the body was recovered on July 6 and July 19, when the case was handed over to the CBI.

The high court has given two weeks time to the CBI to complete its investigation in the rape case which shook the state. The custodial death of one of the accused Suraj, in Kotkhai police station is also being investigated by the CBI along with the main case.
