IPL Spot Fixing Verdict: Gurunath & Kundra Clean Bowled For Life!

A Supreme Court appointed panel, headed by ex-Chief Justice of India RM Lodha, punished Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals because their officials were involved in IPL spot fixing.

Both the teams have been banned for two years for connecting in IPL spot fixing scandal.

Meiyappan, who is the son-in-law of ex-BCCI president N. Srinivasan and the face of CSK till 2013, has been banned for life from cricketing activities while Kundra, the husband of film star Shilpa Shetty and a Rajasthan Royals team owner, has been slapped a similar penalty.

This scandal and the decision of the Supreme Court assigned committee has rocked the Indian cricket. In his judgement, Lodha said fans have been cheated and anti-corruption code violated.

IPL team Chennai Super Kings is owned by India Cements, a company owned by N Srinivasan.

And, Rajasthan Royals is owned by Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

Both the convicts can appeal against the verdict to a two-member Supreme Court bench of Justices T.S. Thakur and FMI Kalifulla.
