HP Cabinet approves heritage tourism policy

Shimla, Oct 4: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today approved a new heritage tourism policy to preserve the state’s heritage buildings and forts.

The ‘Himachal Pradesh Heritage Tourism Policy’ is aimed at preserving the heritage buildings, forts, palaces, lodges, mansions etc having a historical lineage spanning from princely states to the British-era and to make them maintainable in a sustained manner.

The policy would offer the tourists a glimpse of Himachal’s historical and cultural heritage.

The Cabinet also exempted tractors from paying token tax and also removed the condition of minimum one hectare land for acquiring the tractors for agriculture purpose and stayed the recovery of arrears of token tax till further directions.

The Cabinet also approved the ‘Mukhya Mantri Rural Road Repair Scheme’ under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MNREGA) for rural roads.

The Cabinet gave its approval to adopt standard staffing pattern or model organisational structure in the Election Department as fixed by the Election Commission of India.

It also approved upgradation of a dozen primary and high schools as middle and senior secondary school.
