While addressing the rally, the HPCC president, said the Gandhi family had made several sacrifices for the country. Former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated, had ushered in the IT revolution in the country. Most of the development in the country was carried by the Congress. The present NDA government was projecting as if everything in the country had been done by them in the last three years.

Sukhu alleged that while in the opposition BJP leaders had been saying that they would cut 10 heads for every single soldier killed by Pakistan. However, the Indian soldiers have been hacked at borders by Pakistani soldiers but the Indian government had failed to anything worthwhile.

He also alleged the most the schemes being propagated as achievements by the present NDA government like Aadhar card and direct transfer of subsidy to people were initiated by the previous UPA government. Sukhu said that there was no division in Congress in the state and party would be voted back to power in the forthcoming elections.

Minister for Health Kaul Singh, Minister for Agriculture Sujjan Singh Pathania and Minister for Urban development Sudhir Sharma, Minister for Social Security Dhani Ram Shandil were among the prominent leaders present. GS Bali, Minister for Transport was not present as he was out of country. He was represented by his son Raghubir Singh Bali in the rally.

Vice Chairman of Forest Corporation Kewal Singh Pathania participated with hundreds of party workers from Shahpur. Among the prominent absentees were Vijai Singh Mankotia, vice chairman of tourism development board, Viplove Thakur, Rajya Sabha member and Chandresh Kumari, former minister.
