Himachal, Aug 3: There were long queues of apple-laden trucks and other vehicles on Thursday as the Theog-Hatkoti road was blocked at Nihari owing to the breakdown of a trailer. Efforts are afoot to clear the road.
The road is the lifeline of the apple belt connecting Theog with Chaila, Kotkhai, Jubbal, Kharapathar and Rohru. The apple season has commenced and early varieties which fetch better prices are being transported to the markets.
Apple-growers in interior areas have already been facing problems in getting their produce to the main roads as the link roads are in a pathetic condition due to rains.A large number of link roads in remote areas in Rampur and Rohru sub-divisions are blocked due to landslides.
