CM: Complete distribution of ‘nautor’ land within 2 months

Shimla, July 8: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh directed the district administration to complete the distribution of ‘nautor’ land within two months in Lahaul-Spiti district. Addressing a gathering at Udaipur on Friday, he said the government was granting ‘nautor’ land to the landless and had relaxed the process for some time. He directed the Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul-Spiti, Deva Singh Negi to finish the process of distribution within two months.

“It should be taken as a mission and to be fulfilled as per my directions. No excuse will be tolerated,” he added.He laid the foundation stone of mela ground at Tindi to be constructed at a cost of Rs 74 lakh, which includes provision of stage, pavements, protection works and fencing. This ground is famous for traditional ‘Seri Jatter’ which in organised in October every year where people come to pay obeisance to Mrikula Devi.

The Chief Minister announced upgrade of Middle School, Bhujund, to high school. He said modern education was the need of the hour and the government was mulling to phase-wise introduce science and commerce streams in all government senior schools of the state in near future.He gave a nod for the construction of Tandi Sangam Ghat in Lahaul-Spiti, which was a long-pending demand of people in the region. He announced Rs 50 lakh for the construction of a ghat. He said the sanctity of confluence of the Chandra and the Bhaga river at Tandi would be maintained at all cost.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister announced Rs 5 lakh for Udaipur Ghat, which would be constructed on the confluence of the Myad rivulet and the Chandrabhaga river.He said the people of Lahaul should be given permits in a hassle-free manner to cross the Rohtang Pass.“Work on the Sansari nullah being undertaken by the BRO was not up to the mark.

I will write to the Prime Minister to improve the condition of this road from Tandi to Sansari nullah,” he added.He directed that primary schools at Kaushaki and Ratoli in the Udaipur subdivision should not be closed.He said though many constructions had come up in Udaipur, they should be constructed in a planned manner.

Directing the administration, he said the development process should be carried out speedily and not only when there was a proposed visit of a Chief Minister.Later, he laid the foundation stone of the Chhating Bridge to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3.80 crore and the foundation stone of 11-km Khandip-Sugnam-Tandi flow irrigation scheme, which would benefit 21 villages of two panchayats.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Lahaul-Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur, who urged him for completing and expediting the process of distribution of ‘nautor’ land, a new building for Government Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, sub-tehsil at Jahalama, upgrade High School Mooring to government senior secondary school, vet dispensary at Baring and an ayurveda health centre at Chokhan.
