Cristiano Ronaldo Donates $8mn For Quake-Hit Nepal

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to charity. His philanthropy efforts have earned him respect from every corner.

He has now decided to help out the people of Nepal by donating almost $8 million through the Save the Children outfit. Ironically, his donation alone is equivalent to the donation that the Australian government has made for the victims. Ronaldo, who wears jersey no. 7, has also asked his followers on Facebook to donate generously.

Nepal, which is considered to be one of the poorest nations in the world was hit by an earthquake of the magnitude 7.8 last month. And while people were still coming to terms with the tragedy, a series of three more quakes hit this hilly nation again today.

The mountainous terrain and the remoteness of villages is slowing the rescue and relief efforts. The Nepalese government has been offered relief from a magnitude of nations on the globe. Ronaldo’s efforts were first recognized when he donated $1.7 million for the children who had suffered in the Gaza conflict. He was also very active in providing relief to the Tsunami victims in 2004.

Celebrities like Ronaldo have proven time and again, that unity is a must in the face of a crisis. Ronaldo is leading by example and urging his followers to reach out too.

Help Nepal!
