Here’s What You Should Cook For Your Christmas Party!

0

Christmas is just a few days ahead and like any one else, I too am pretty excited for my Christmas party. I love the way everything transforms into a red and white customary look. The bows and wreaths decorated beautifully on the windows and doors are a treat for the eyes.

Finally it’s that time of the year when every one secretly makes a wish in the hope that Santa would make it come true!

Christmas Party

During this holiday season especially when you have kids, you feel like treating them with something special. How about cooking some Christmas-themed food and holding a Christmas party?

Good idea, eh! First, you need to find a venue to hold your party if you don’t want to hold it at your own house. VenueScanner can help you find a place for your Christmas party in no time, making the whole search quick and easy! So, now the question is what should you cook for Christmas?

Don’t fret, here’s my list of recipes for your own little Christmas party:

1. Mini Sausage Wreaths

Ingredients

  • Mini Sausages
  • Refrigerated Crescent Dough Rolls
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Diced Rosemary
  • 1/3 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup BBQ Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the package of Refrigerated Crescent Dough Rolls. Drain the liquid off of the mini sausages.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate at the perforations to create 4 rectangles. Press together the remaining perforation in each rectangle. With a knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 8 strips making a total of 32 strips.
  3. Wrap one strip of dough around each mini sausage. Lay out the crescent-wrapped sausages with their sides touching on an ungreased cookie sheet in a circle forming a wreath shape.
  4. Bake for 11-15 minutes or until golden brown. Melt 1/3 cup of butter and brush the butter on top of the crescent-wrapped sausages. Sprinkle the rosemary on top of the butter.
  5. Cut a red bell pepper into a bow shape for garnish. Combine the BBQ sauce and cranberry sauce in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until heated through. Serve with wreath for dipping.

3. Berry Xmas Pavlova

Ingredients

Pavlova

  1. 4 eggs whites (at room temperature)
  2. Pinch of salt
  3. 250g castor sugar
  4. 2 tsp of cornflour (sifted)
  5. 1 tsp white wine vinegar
Raspberry Coulis
  1. 125g fresh raspberries
  2. Juice 1/2 lemon
  3. 1/4 cup castor sugar
  4. 1/2 tsp of brandy (optional)
Topping
  1. 300ml fresh cream – whipped
  2. 1 x pomegrante
  3. Raspberries, cherries and strawberries to decorate
  4. Bunch of holly or fresh mint

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 120*C. Line a tray with baking paper. Use a round baking tin to draw one large circle (22cm) then draw another circle inside it approximately 13cm wide.
  2. Beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. Beat in sugar, a little at time until meringue is stiff and shiny. Sprinkle over sifted cornflour, vinegar and fold in lightly. You should be able to up end the bowl at this stage with no fear of anything coming out.
  3. Grab a dessert spoon and scoop a dollop of meringue. Place this dollop between the outside and inside line. Repeat until a ring of meringue is complete. Create a second layer of meringue on top of the first until second ring is complete. Flatten the top by smoothing the meringue.
  4. Place meringue in oven for 2 hours at 120*C. When time is complete, turn off the oven and leave meringue in the oven until completely cool. This is very important as there will be less risk of the meringue cracking and collapsing.
  5. When cool, spread with whipped cream, drizzle on raspberry coulis then decorate with cherries, pomegranates, strawberries, raspberries and holly or mint.Raspberry Coulis – Blend fresh raspberries, lemon juice and sugar together until sugar has completely dissolved. Set aside until required.

4. Grinch Cake for Christmas

Ingredients

  • 2 Boxes of Pound Cake Mix
  • Heart Cookie Cutter
  • Red and Green Food Gel Color
  • Loaf Pan
  • Green and Yellow Frosting
  • Red Heart Sprinkles – Optional

Directions

  • Mix on box of pound cake mix following the directions on the box. ?Add a few drops of red food coloring at a time until you get the red color you like.
  • I use Wilton “No-Taste Red” because it doesn’t taste like red food coloring. It doesn’t taste at all so it is perfect for this cake.
  • Once the cake is baked, let it cool and then cut the cake into even slices.
  • Then, use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out as many hearts as it takes to lay them face to face from one end of the pan to the other end. Make sure it is a snug fit but, leave room at each end for the green cake mix.
  • Mix the second cake and add some green food coloring.
  • Pour the green batter around the heart cutouts.
  • Tap the pan on the counter so the batter will fall down the sides of the hearts.
  • Bake it according to the package directions.
  • Next, frost the cake with green frosting and add some heart sprinkles.

Do send us the pictures of your Christmas party 🙂
