Balh MLA is Prakash Chaudhary. He is associated with Indian National Congress. He is son of Shri Sohan Lal. He was born at village Dadour, Distt. Mandi on 27th November 1961. He Post Graduated in Political Science in 1988. He is married to Smt. Krishna Chaudhary.

Constituency Represented

Balh is a tehsil in Mandi district of the state. Balh tehsil headquarters is Balh town. It is located 12 km from district headquarters in Mandi and roughly 70 km from Shimla. Balh tehsil is bounded by Mandi, Sundernagar, Gohar tehsil and Darang tehsils. Mandi, Sundernagar, Hamirpur and Shimla are the nearby cities to Balh.

Political Standing

Prakash Chaudhary has been involved in rehabilitation of widows and helping old and physically handicapped people. He remained Member, Block Development Committee, Mandi Sadar, 1992-96; General Secretary, Youth Congress, District Mandi; President, Seva Dal, Balh and Member, P.C.C. Elected to State Legislative Assembly as Himachal Vikas Congress candidate in 1998 but soon joined Bharatiya Janata Party. He was re-elected in 2007 on Indian National Congress’ ticket. He remained Minister of State for Animal Husbandry (Independent Charge) Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, 1998-2003; Member, Welfare and General Development Committees during 2008-2012. He was elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 3116 votes. Inder Singh of BJP was the trailing candidate.
