Aadesh Shrivastava, the Jabalpur boy who came to Bombay and made his mark with many hit numbers from movies like Baghban, Chalte Chalte, Baabul, is no more. He died of cancer at a Mumbai hospital a day after he turned 49.

The composer was suffering from cancer and had been diagnosed with the disease for the first time in 2010. It was again reported in the media on 31 August 2015 that his cancer had relapsed for the third time since his first attack in 2010 and he had been hospitalized for more than a month. He succumbed to the disease on 5th September.

Shrivastava is survived by his wife, Vijeta Pandit, a former Bollywood actress and sister of music-composer duo Jatin-Lalit, and their two sons — Anivesh and Avitesh.
