Kullu, July 12: The local deity Jamdagni Rishi of Malana village has ordered the closure of various guest houses being run by villagers near the village. Priest of the deity Surtan confirmed that the deity through its oracle had ordered to shut guest houses being run adjacent to the village.
The village is infamous for cannabis cultivation and is on the world map for the quality of charas. A large number of tourists, including foreigners, visit the village and they stay in guest houses near the village.
A large number of pilgrims also visit the deity and many trekkers to the Chanderkhani pass also halt at Malana village. Earlier, the visitors used to stay in the houses of the local residents, but a few residents developed guest houses as the influx of tourists increased over time.
Surtan said the decision would be implemented after the approval by the local panchayat. He added that visitors could still come to Malana after the closure of guest houses and they could stay in the houses of residents as earlier.
